Cameroon...Japan...Ivory Coast...WHY NOT INDIA??????
Yet another world cup..Teams like Ivory Coast, Senegal,Japan,TOGO(a population of less than a million) have qualified..The question on every indian's mind shud be WHERE THE HELL IS INDIA??
INDIA has improved "Tremendously"..It has JUMPED from rank 138 to 130..Big deal..A population of 1 billion and we cant come up with 15 odd people who can play football at the top most level??This has to be a shame on our country..Look at australia..A country with 22 million population..Top in cricket..Rugby..Ok in football...Athletics...Olympics...A country with about 50 times its population earns 50 times less medals in the olympics..
I know wut ur gonna say..Too much emphasis on cricket...As a person who adores cricket, i can say there is nothing much more than a commercial value for the game.. But as a country with rich sporting heritage, we have to promote other sports along the length and breadth of India..

India is way behind when football comes. We can say there is absolutely no improvement for the last 5-10 years..
I remember a football tournament in Kochi where Iran, Ghana etc had participated. Iran were a good team by then. But Ghana..! They improved like hell.. Now arent they in WC?
Almost evryone turns 2 cricket during their youth..
We need some football acadamies with worldclass coaches. I think atleast one can be afforded bu our football association.. Then it will be the beginning..!

i agree with thorax--we need some good talentspotters and some real good academies...then again some of the african countries are really poor and yet miles ahead of us in football...maybe they are physically better suited
YUp redbaron, Thats the thing that surprises.. Most of the African nations are not economically good and they dont have academies..
But still they have the passion 4 the game which is not present here..
We cant blame on cricket alone, its the ineffective managemt of the game here that ruins our chances!
Yes..Friends..I see that a majority agrees with me.. Wut shud be done now to bridge this gap between a "Future super power" as they call it and the so called "Developing african countries"..
Absence of a Supporting infrastructure is one thing that is plaguing indian sport..Be it anything football, hockey so and so..Lack of professionalism is another..
A country like USA..Sports like Basketball, American Football, baseball werent popular till the 50's..Its because they pooled in lots of money and marketed well that it has the following it has today..
@Redbaron, About physique..Look at japan..They are no better than india in physique.. China was there in some recent world cup if my memory is correct..
